Who can subscribe to community solar?

Anyone who pays their own electric bill! This includes renters, homeowners, and co-op/condo owners.

What is the sign-up process?

Sign up is simple and straightforward. Click on the subscribe button anywhere on this site and you will have a form to fill out.

This form includes your basic contact information and your utility account information so that we can notify National Grid that you are requesting a portion of renewable energy credits.

Once you submit the form, a member of our team will contact you with your subscription contract. Once signed up, you can cancel at any time without notice or fee!

How do I receive my savings?

Your savings will appear automatically on your monthly utility bill!

How is my allocation of the solar farm determined?

Allocation of solar panels is determined by your annual usage and how much energy the farm’s energy generates.

Are you replacing my utility provider?

We do not replace your utility provider—we simply work with them to ensure that you receive credit on your current bill for the electricity you help generate. The credits/savings come from the power produced by the share of solar panels you have been allocated.

Is a credit check required?

No! Thanks to a new local policy no credit check is required.

Can you show me what my bill will look like after subscribing?

Every month on your National Grid utility bill you will see a bi-line that may say "community adder" or "community solar subscription" and beside it will be the dollar amount to be deducted from your total bill. Look at a sample bill here.

If this is free, how does ClearPath make money?

ClearPath Energy owns and operates solar farms that generate energy. We then deliver and sell that energy to National Grid. National Grid pays us for that energy, and we share a portion of those profits with our subscribers - which you receive as a discount on your utility bill.
